The Piva monastery, located near the source of the Piva river in northern Montenegro, is dedicated to the Assumption. The monastery was built between 1573 and 1586 under the supervision of Savatije, the Herzegovinian metropolitan.
The monastery is one of the largest in Montenegro. Its treasures include rare books, art and objects of precious metals. The church also possesses a psalter from the Crnojevic printing press (1493-1496). The monastery was recently moved, due to the construction of a power plant, and is now located in the village of Goransko near Lake Mratinje.
